2005 reunion page
The 2005 reunion was held October 4 through 7 at the Sleep Inn, Baltimore, Md.
One of the main attractions for us was a tour of one of our sister ships the USS Torsk SS423, The Torsk is being restored by the TVA a group of volunteers. www.usstorsk.org/ A donation of $479 was made on behalf of our crew to maintain the historical ship.
At the Top of the World Observation Level on the 27th floor of the World Trade Center, we enjoyed a 360 degree view of the city, the view was fantastic. Many other local attractions such as Ft McHenry and the B & O Railroad Museum and the National Aquarium were visited. A few managed to see DC for the grand tour.
The best attraction of the reunion was not the sights but the wonderful company we shared. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships started. Many no longer have the good health and vitality they once enjoyed. That was not a detraction but a reason to grow closer and we did.
Never in the course of human history have so many lies been told in so short a span of time. The same old story could be heard in many variations. All of them very good and very interesting.
Dave Thames the leading volunteer on the Torsk gave a fantastic talk about the efforts of volunteers to restore the historic submarine that sank the last two combat Japanese ships of WW2.
George Hinda and Glenn Minteer were honored for serving on the boats in WW2.
Tom Hopely sent a donation of $263 in the name of the USS DIABLO to the US
Submarine Veterans
Charitable Foundation to be applied to the Brotherhood Fund for Huricane Relief.
This was made possible by the proceeds realized from the donations of Jean
Markle's ceramic lighthouse, Robbie Robinson's Submarine Book and Tom's floor
mats.

Reunion
From years past I met a man who crossed my path.
The rancor I felt from those years far past no longer stained my soul.
The one man who kept my love from God was gentile and so different from memory spoiled.
How foolish a man to waste his spirit in spite for a man he should have loved.
